 You don’t know what a "Schwob" is? A "Schwob" is a Swabian, for all intents and purposes a native of Southwest Germany, also affectionately known as "Ländle"*. The Swabian is a hard worker because he abhors all unnecessary work. Is that a contradiction? No! Who wants to make his life easier, has to be more creative and more efficient. To achieve this objective, the Swabian excel as inventors. They start from what they have at hand, and always come up with good ideas and solutions. For example, Swabians think efficiently, when speaking they reduce their speech to the essentials and relinquish all superfluous words. They are able to reduce sentences to the essential one or two words. In addition, they cut out unnecessary syllables and letters from the words. As a consequence Swabians are known as too frugal or even closefisted. That is simply not true. When it comes to eating, for example, a Swabian considers the best as only just adequate. Only the preparation of the meal needs to be simple, just like for our "Maultaschen". *Loosely translated as "the home State for Swabians". |
